About Ranu Kumbolo Lake
Ranu Kumbolo is a freshwater lake with an area of 24 hectares and is located at an altitude of 2,389 meters above sea level and is still in the same area as Mount Bromo. In order to preserve the ecosystem in Ranu Kumbolo, climbers are not allowed to bathe, wash, let alone defecate in the lake because the temperature is very extreme, reaching 5° Celsius and the depth is up to 28 meters.

Path to Ranu Kumbolo
The first post for climbing Semeru is the Ranu Pane post, while to get to the post there are 2 paths that you can choose. If you start from Malang City – Overlapping – Poncokusumo – Hut Klakah – Ngadas – Ranu Pane.
Then if you start from Surabaya City – Probolinggo City – Sukapura/Ngadisari – Ranu Pane. If you start your journey from the city of Surabaya and want to overlap, then you can take the route from Surabaya to Malang city, then just follow the route described above.
The hike to Ranu Kumblo starts in the morning from Ranu Pani village (permission post) guided by a guide with the complete path as follows:
From the village of Ranu Pane to Landengan Dowo as far as 3.5 KM and the journey takes 1.5-2 hours by paving roads and passing through community plantations. Then continue the journey to Watu Rejeng which has started to enter the forest.
Although the path is still fairly easy but the air is starting to feel cold. On the same path you will also pass the Love bridge. If you want to fill up energy in this place there are many stalls selling food and drinks. Then from Watu Rejeng continue the climb to Ranu Kumbolo for 2 hours
Climbing Preparation

First Day: Surabaya/Malang – Ranu Pane Post – Ranu Kumbolo
- This Ranu Kumbolo camping tour starts with picking up participants in Surabaya or Malang (Airport, Station, Terminal or other public area). Then continue the journey to the village of Ranu Pani, the journey takes 3-5 hours depending on road conditions.
- Upon arrival at the Ranu Pani post, take a short break and then take care of all the necessary preparations and will be briefed by the guide.
- After that start climbing towards Ranu Kumbolo lake for 4-5 hours
